About Mrs. Aridgides
Mrs. Aridgides is the 7th and 8th grade Choral Director at Higgins Middle School. She also teaches 6th, 7th, and 8th grade General Music. Select ensembles she is involved with are select chorus, drum circle, and coffee house. This is her fifth year teaching at the Higgins. Prior to that, Mrs. Aridgides taught in Methuen, Massachusetts. She is originally from Syracuse, New York where she received her Bachelors in Music Education and Performance from the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam. She later received her Masters Degree in Ethnomusicology (world music and cultures) from UCLA. While living in Los Angeles, Mrs. Aridgides sang and performed in various world music ensembles, such as Bulgarian choir, Brazilian Batucada drumming, AfroCuban drumming, Ghanaian drumming, and Mariachi. In addition, she performed and worked closely with a Mexican American folk music ensemble that performed son jarocho, a style of music originally from Mexico. Mrs. Aridgides and her husband have a black lab mix, Jasmine. Mr. and Mrs. Aridgides like to travel (most recently, Mallorca, Spain) run, hike, and ski. They can be found backcountry skiing on Mt. Washington each winter.
